Description
In response to #amazonfail, a statement was released from an Amazon spokesperson to Publishers Weekly, stating that the removal from search results and de-ranking of certain #LGBT content was due to a computer glitch. Twitter users and LGBT-supporters are not convinced the incident was a glitch, as other content that seemingly should have also been hit by the error was not removed.
Immediately following the release of the Publishers Weekly article, "glitch" began trending on Twitter, the Publishers Weekly website crashed due to inbound traffic and a number of users started tagging their replies under the rallying #glitchmyass hashtag.
