Description
Twakeup 2009
October is National Breast Cancer Awareness Month. Today a group of friends is getting together to help raise awareness of the fact that breast cancer is treatable and survivable, and to help raise donations to the National Breast Cancer Foundation and other organizations that help educate and save lives.
Breast cancer is the most common cause of cancer in women, and the second most common cause of cancer death in women in the U.S. The American Cancer Society says 1 in 8 women will develop breast cancer at some time in their life. Most of us know a friend or relative whose life has been touched by breast cancer. Thankfully breast cancer survivors are more and more numerous, thanks to the efforts of people and organizations who are raising awareness, facilitating early detection, and providing the healing powers of hope and support.
So today we'd like you to:
Donate
We've set up a site to keep track of cash donations. Donations will go to the National Breast Cancer Foundation (NBCF).
